Some songs take years to write. Others take years to find their way into the world.
Hold Out Your Heart is a collection of folk anthems written across different seasons of life—through military service, marriage, fatherhood, faith, doubt, and all the beauty and wreckage gathered along the way.
Rooted in acoustic guitar and banjo, with threads of folk, bluegrass, rock, and pop, these songs explore longing, sacrifice, brokenness, hope, and the stubborn search for home. They're stories of imperfect people navigating a ramshackle life under heaven's gaze.
Brought to life in Brooklyn, New York, with producer Butch Parnell and a group of great musicians and even better friends affectionately called the Roughmen, this debut EP has been a long time coming. My hope is simply that these songs might travel beyond the person who wrote them and become part of someone else's story.
